The Kerry FAI Schools Primary Schools 5-a-side competition finals took place on Thursday, April 5 at Christy Leahy Park, Tralee, Co Kerry:

5 small sided pitches were in use over the day with 21 teams from 16 schools participating in the finals day:

The small schools section for boys had 4 teams in the group: The final saw Derryquay NS defeat Killcummin NS 2/0 after a very exciting game: 

The small schools section for girls was a very tight affair between near neighbours, Fossa NS defeating Firies NS, 1/0 in another very close entertaining game:

The medium schools boys and girls competitions again had 4 teams participating on the finals day day:

This section was won by Presentation Monastery School, Killarney who defeated Mercy Primary School, Moyderwell after a thrilling extra time battle on the score line of 5/4:

The large schools girls section saw Presentation NS, Listowel and St: Oliver’s NS, Killarney come through the group stages and contest the final, and it was the Killarney girls that won on the day on the score line 3/1:

The large schools boys section saw Holy Family School Tralee and St: Oliver’s NS, Killarney come through the group stages and contest the final, and what a final it was, both sides playing great football throughout and having to go to the dreaded penalty shootout to be separated: St Oliver’s came through the shootout to progress to the Munster Finals:

Darren Aherne FAI Development Officer for Kerry thanked all the schools for taking part in the competition and wished the winning teams the best of luck in the Munster Finals which take place at College Corinthians, Douglas, Cork on May 11:
