The Provincial Finals are the culmination of three months of competition held at County level which sees schools progress to the respective Provincial Finals:
The event saw over 16,000 children participate last year: The competition has been running since the mid 1990’s, the event is more popular than ever with 913 schools involved in 2012
The Munster Provincial Finals will be hosted in the impressive Sean Choill All Weather, Corbally, Limerick today, May 8
30 Schools from Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford will showcase their talent with a total of 240 participants involved in the event which kicks off at 11am
The Aviva Health FAI Primary School 5’s is the biggest and best competition in the 2013 Primary Schools Soccer Calendar: There are 5 divisions to suit all school sizes: While Aviva Health and FAI Schools encourage boys and girls to play on the same team, there is also a separate competition for girls’ schools: A number of teams can represent one school depending on the size of their student body, giving more children the chance to develop their skills in a safe, child centred and exciting environment:
It promises to be a fantastic fun filled day with winners and runners up receiving a commemorative medal: The lucky winners will also receive a free UMBRO kit and the prestigious Munster trophy for their School
A brand new addition to the tournament in 2013 will see primary school children given the opportunity to compete in Aviva Stadium, as it will host the National Finals on Saturday, 25 May:
This will be a family fun day focused on providing participants and spectators alike with huge excitement and entertainment in order to make it a day to remember for all involved:
Aviva’s sponsorship of the Primary School 5’s sees the expansion of their partnership with the football family: At present, Aviva support the FAI Club of the Month and the Soccer Sisters programme:
Last year the Munster Schools participating in the competition did extremely well picking up a first place finish in the “C” Schools section courtesy of a magnificent performance from St: Anthony’s NS, Cork and also in the Girls ‘B’ Section as Monaleen NS, Limerick scooped gold: Two out of five first place finished going to the Munster province: St: Colmcille’s NS, Tipperary came a gallant third place in “B” Schools competition: Piltown NS got a third place finish in the Girls “A” section and Annagh NS, Clare came a respectable fourth place in the “A” Schools section for small schools: All round an impressive result for the mighty Munster
Cork will see Rahan NS, Aghada, St: Columba’s BNS, Knockskeigh NS and St: Joseph’s NS, Riverstown all make the journey to Corbally for a fun filled day of soccer having tasted County success last month: The teams will be itching for another outing come Wednesday evening:
Kerry have Tiernaboul NS and St: Oliver’s NS make the short trip to Limerick to represent the Kingdom in what should prove to be an enjoyable day for all involved: Spa NS, Fossa NS andPresentation Monastery School, Killarney will be welcome veterans to this campaign having notched up some valuable experience last season
St: Ursula’s NS and St: Declan’s NS in Waterford will make a welcome return to the Provincial Final: St: Declan’s captured Provincial glory in 2009 in the “C” Section and more recently in 2011: Their highlight was their third place finish in the All Ireland series that same year while tasting All Ireland glory in 2005 in the Nationals and the lads will be hoping their experience in this competition can bring them success in Munster yet again:
St: Ursula’s of Ballytruckle are no strangers to the 5-a-side competition having last tasted All Ireland success in 2007 in the Girls “B” Section: The school makes a welcome return in the same section having competed bravely in 2011: They lost out to St: Anne’s NS, Rathkeale that year but are hoping for better luck second time around:
Waterford’s Kinsalebeg NS, Ferrybank NS and Kill NS will be hoping to emulate the success stories of their County colleagues as they go in search of more silverware in Corbally’s impressive surroundings
Ennis NS will be represented in both the C Section and Girls B Section, will double success be on the cards? A welcome return is also noted for Miltown Malbay NS this season who are hoping for big performances from some of their star players: Knocenaen NS make a welcome return to the Provincial Finals and will be hoping to capture honours this year as the Boys team competes in “B” category: It was the girls that reached this stage two years previously: NewcomersKilmaley NS will be hoping to progress with excellent performances in their County qualifiers
Tipperary’s Ballyneale NS, Scoil Eoin Naofa, Cahir BNS, Dromakeenan NS and St: Mary’s Convent Primary will represent the County with pride this season as some new schools have finally made the leap to Provincial level:
Host County, Limerick welcome back Roxborough NS will contest the Girls ‘B’ Section this season: The boys were quite successful in 2011 picking up runners up spot in the All Ireland series in the ‘B’ Section for medium schools: The girls will be looking to replicate their good fortunes: St: Nessan’s is also a familiar sight to these surroundings and will contest the ‘C’ Section with old rivals St: Declan’s NS (Waterford) and Presentation Monastery (Kerry) who they met last season in the very same category: Abbeyfeale NS came third in the All Ireland series in 2007 in the ‘B’ Section and will be again a team to look out for: The School is now qualified in the ‘A’ Schools section for small schools in 2013: Croagh NS and Killinure NS are relevant newcomers who will be looking for home advantage to play a part in proceedings:
There will be plenty to play for as the teams take to the field at 11am sharp to contest yet another Aviva Health FAI Primary School 5’s Munster title:
