A brilliant day was had by all the Waterford Primary Schools at their annual Willie Moran Memorial Schools blitz reports Gary Power (FAI Development Officer)

This was their third year of the event and this was the biggest event to date with 24 teams taking part in the boys competition and 8 teams taking part in the girls event

A total of 320 players taking part in this one day event. The 7vs7 format was used in both boys and girls and proved to be a great success.

This event is held in memory of Willie Moran who was a very influential figure for many years in both schools and schoolboy football for years and it was lovely to have his brothers there today to present the prizes.

Many thanks to hosts Tramore AFC who set up all the pitches for the event and all the volunteers and helpers on the day. Adrian Flanagan Waterford News and Star and Markie Lucas who assisted with the refereeing and also the students from the Waterford ETB Hub who refereed.

The boy’s event had 24 teams split into 4 groups and after the group round everyone qualified for either Cup, Plate, Shield, Trophy

The girls had 8 teams with everyone competing for the Cup.
