Loreto Community School, Milford 0-1 Coláiste Choilm CBS, Swords

                                                                                                                                                                                                 James Doyle (42)

A solitary goal midway through the second period, courtesy of James Doyle, was enough to see Coláiste Choilm CBS of Swords advance past Loreto CS, Milford at a sun soaked Peace Link Sports Centre in Clones this afternoon

Both sides enjoyed plenty of possession in the first half but the final ball was lacking any real conviction. The best effort fell to Sword’s supremo Valentino Adedokun as his rocket on the edge of the box smashed off the post seven minutes from the interval.

The game sparked to life when Doyle got on the end of a well worked ball as the Nolan / O’Connor combo did well to feed the youngster in the box. The ace goal scorer did well to slot past the impressive John Matthew between the sticks.

Milford’s James Smeaton was only on the pitch four minutes when his wicked snap shot from the left wing skimmed the crossbar and bounced off the line, he came agonisingly close to the equaliser six minutes from time.

Coláiste Choilm did well to sustain the pressure from the Ulster crew to ensure their passage to their first National Cup appearance. An historic day for the School and an occasion the squad will relish now.

Teachers Paul Lawlor and Marcus Dailly will await the winners of the other semi-final which sees St. Gerald’s College, Castlebar face St. Brendan’s College, Killarney in Tulla United FC, Ennis on Thursday afternoon (1pm).

The National Cup Final is scheduled for Wednesday, May 4 as Swords put a plan in motion to keep their title ambitions alive.
