Castletroy advance to All Ireland Schools Final

It was bitter disappointment for Mercy College as a moment of magic from midfielder Niamh Richardson ensured Castletroy a place in the Final of the Umbro Senior Ladies Cup Final:

The Limerick ladies have a very impressive record in this competition at this level and were put under severe pressure early on from the Roscommon forward line of McHugh and Staunton: Tully providing some quality passes to her two strike partners up front:

The game was intense in the first half with some excellent saves from Cronin and good support from her defence to ensure the game remained scoreless at half time:

Midway through the second half Richardson made a telling run to stretch the Roscommon defence: She made no mistake with her strike on goal and finished neatly to the top corner giving Castletroy the advantage: Mercy responded with some fine through balls from Aisling McHugh and Anna McCormack to set up Tully but unfortunately they were unable to find the equaliser:
