A year ago, the two sides played out a scoreless draw in Crawley, but this time around there is a lot at stake as both sides come into the game with a win each under their belts. For the home side, that win was achieved against Scotland in a difficult encounter played on the plastic pitch at Stenhousemuir. The Irish were due to play their Northern counterparts last week but bad weather put paid to that game and with England also winners over the Scots, three points would go a long way towards this year’s title.
Carr is pleased with the form and work ethic of his squad, "They have a tremendous attitude and since we got together last October, each player has given 100%. I could not ask for any more commitment from the players,” said Carr.
“They played extremely well to win in Wales in atrocious conditions and followed this with an excellent win over Scotland despite playing on an unfamiliar surface. It was disappointing that this game is not going to decide this year’s championship as we lost the game against the North due to the weather as there will be a big crowd there to support the lads but that’s football and three points will set up the decider against the North in May,” he added.
