Irish Schools hope to maintain winning streak
The Republic of Ireland FAI Schools U18 boys’ team will be hoping to make it a hat-trick of victories in the Centenary Shield when they take on Scotland on Friday 4 April. The fixture will be played in Leah Victoria Park, Tullamore (6pm)
Sean Carr has only one injury worry heading into the game. Mark O’Reilly (Chanel College) picked up a knee injury in the match against Wales and will miss the forthcoming fixture. Carr, however, is confident that the panel will have the strength to overcome the Scots at home.
Scotland’s John Tonner, Steven Saunders and Don Morrison in central defence played a vital role in their 3-1 win against Wales. Northern Ireland proved tougher opponents with a 1-1 draw.
Ireland got off to a great start with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Wales and a magnificent 2-0 win over Northern Ireland. John Mulroy (Moyle Park College) found the net in both games to secure victory for the Irish.
This will be Ireland’s penultimate match in the Centenary Shield. The final fixture will see the Republic travel to the Stadium of Light in Sunderland to take on England on the 18 April (7pm).
