Irish Schools team seek St. Patrick’s Day Glory
The Republic of Ireland FAI Schools Under 18 team will be aiming to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a victory over Northern Ireland in their second game of the Centenary Shield. The fixture will take place in Milebush Park, Castlebar (2pm).
The squad will be strengthened with the return of Gary Murphy from injury and Captain Robbie Creevey, who missed the match against Wales due to club commitments for Shamrock Rovers.
Their season got off to a great start with a hard-fought 2 -1 win over Wales in Swansea at the end of February. Kevin Barry will be hoping for a call up to the starting side after making a telling impact when coming on as a substitute in that game to secure victory for the Irish with a late winner.
Northern Ireland will be looking to improve on their performance which saw them been beaten by England 2 – 1 at home last Monday evening.
