The Football Association of Ireland will host the 20th FAI International Football Awards on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at RTÉ studios, Donnybrook, Dublin 4: RTÉ will televise the event live on RTÉ 2 at 8:30pm:
19 awards will be presented on the night, including the FAI Schools Player of the Year:
Those nominated include the versatile Gary Burke, sharp shooter Jason Hughes and hard working Shane Howard:
The Republic of Ireland Schools team has enjoyed a constant period of growth and success over the last number of years with notable achievements: The team narrowly missed out on capturing the Carnegie Centenary Shield with a defeat to England in Waterford:
Limerick CBS star Jason Hughes played a pivotal role in the team’s match winning campaign: Hughes plays his club football with Limerick 37: The youngster has been capped at U15, 16 and 18 levels and has two All Ireland School’s titles to his credit as well as five Munster Senior Schools medals with Limerick CBS:
Carlow's Shane Howard attends Coláiste Eoin in Hacketstown and plays his club football with Belvedere: Howard has 13 caps at U15, 16 and 17 levels as well as U12 and U16 SFAI Cup winner’s medals: Shane is a keen sportsman and enjoys soccer while supporting Grimsby Town:
Gary Burke is a team mate of Howards at Belvedere and attends Larkin Community College in Dublin: This versatile defender was solid throughout the season and played an integral part in his team’s performance: Burke supports Manchester United and would like a career in football when he completes his Leaving Certificate
