FAI Schools nominees for ‘Three’ FAI International Football Awards announced

The ‘Three’ FAI International Football Awards will take place next Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the RTÉ studios, Donnybrook, Dublin 4.

FAI Schools have three players attending the event with Dan Tobin (Oatlands College, Mount Merrion), Connor Ellis (Coláiste Phobail, Bheanntraí) and Darragh Markey (Coláiste Phádraig, Lucan CBS) up for nomination for the prestigious award. We wish the three lads the very best of luck on the night.

Dan Tobin

DOB 27.02.97

A past pupil of Oatlands College, Mount Merrion, Tobin had an excellent season for FAI Schools. He captained the Republic of Ireland Schools to secure the Centenary Shield last season. He had an impressive campaign for Paddy O’Reilly’s side in the left back position and put in some sterling performances in defence which ensured Ireland’s unbeaten record in the competition. Dan is currently enjoying his football at UCD.

Connor Ellis

DOB 12.05.97

Connor played schools football for Coláiste Phobail, Bheanntraí (Bantry Community College). The scholar was in remarkable form last season scoring two penalties in their 3-2 victory against Northern Ireland last March and a superb goal against Scotland in April to ensure a 1-1 draw away from home.  Ellis is applying his trade with Cork City this season.

Darragh Markey

DOB 23.05.97

Coláiste Phádraig, Lucan CBS student had a wonderful season for FAI Schools. His hard work and determination earned him a place on the starting eleven in all four competitive Shield fixtures. The player was impressive for O’Reilly as he worked tirelessly for the Schools outfit. He converted a long range effort to secure a 1-0 victory against England in Sligo last April. Markey is currently on a Sports Scholarship at Maynooth University.
