Republic of Ireland miss out on silverware in Jersey
The Republic of Ireland U18 Boys team competed in the Tri Nation Tournament in Jersey with two competitive fixtures against Northern Ireland and hosts Jersey.
The first competitive outing for the boys in green saw them play their counterparts Northern Ireland.
The Northern lads were very strong and within thirty minutes the boys were 2-0 up. The Republic of Ireland got one back in the second half but the boys struggled to grab a late gasp equaliser in a thrilling finale.
The second fixture of the tournament proved more successful for the Republic as they went on to secure a comprehensive 6-1 victory over Jersey.
With Northern Ireland winning all two fixtures, the memorial trophy was presented to Northern Ireland’s tournament captains Craig Hill and Aaron McElwee by Gary, Katie and Michael Nicholson, husband and children, respectively, of the late Lynn Nicholson.
