Colhoun makes changes to panel ahead of clash with Wales
Hugh Colhoun has made three late changes ahead of Thursday night’s clash with Wales in the Carnegie Centenary Shield.
Ger Hanley, St. Josephs College, Galway has been replaced by David Quirke in goals. David hails from Meath and is studying at St. Patrick’s College, Navan. He was part of the successful Leinster Interprovincial squad that captured the Interprovincial title last October.
Jason Dwane, St. Peter’s College, Dunboyne has been ruled out due to injury and will be replaced by Danny Fallon, Sancta Maria College, Louisburgh.
Both players were part of the Republic of Ireland panel that drew 2-2 with New Zealand in December and lost narrowly to Northern Ireland in February.
The third member of the squad to withdraw from the panel is Philip Knight, Clonkeen College, Blackrock. Replacing Philip will be Buncrana youngster, Johnny Bonner of Scoil Mhuire.
Local lad, James Keohane will be hoping for a place on the starting eleven. James plays his club football for Wexford Youths. The club had a very successful season last year, capturing the FAI Interleague Youths Cup and the FAI Youth Cup. Keohane will be hoping that his success at club level will progress to International glory.
The preparations for the new look team are going well ahead of the International which will take place on Thursday, 26 February at Ferrycarrig Park (KO 7pm).
