Scoil Mhuire agus Smál, Blarney student Conor McCarthy was honoured with the prestigious FAI Schools International Player of the Year Award tonight.
One of the shining lights in last year’s Centenary Shield campaign, the Cork native enjoyed two seasons with the Irish Schools select. He tasted success in his first outing with the squad in 2015 and were runners up in 2016.
Conor captained his side against Northern Ireland & Scotland. He was a pivotal player for the Republic of Ireland and featured heavily in every game of the campaign.
The Blarney student togs out for Cork City having previously played with Blarney United from a promising 5 year old. He joins Cork colleagues Connor Ellis (Coláiste Phobail, Bheanntraí) and Alan Browne (Nagle Community College) on the list of prestigious winners.
Congratulations also to Conor’s team-mates Shane HANNEY (Clonkeen College), and Conor KANE (Coláiste Phadraig, Lucan CBS) who were nominated for the award.
