St. Andrew’s College, Blackrock student Neil Farrugia was honoured with the prestigious FAI Schools International Player of the Year Award tonight.
Neil was born in France to an Irish mother and French father and moved to Ireland aged 7. He has previously starred with St. James Athletic, St. Joseph’s Boys, Belvedere FC and only joined UCD in 2015.
Farrugia scored in the opening game against Wales from the penalty spot and followed up with the match winner against Northern Ireland in their next outing.
Unfortunately injury ruled him out for the Scotland and England encounters which saw the Republic of Ireland Schools select finish just after joint winners England and Northern Ireland last season.
Congratulations also to Neil’s team-mates Shane BLANEY (St. Eunan’s College), and John MARTIN (Presentation De La Salle, Bagnelstown) who were nominated for the award.
