Umbro Senior Girls All Ireland Final

Will it be Cat Laughs in Kilkenny for Limerick or Skerries

Castletroy Chicks to play Stylish Skerries for Senior Cup title

Castletroy College, Limerick v Skerries Community College

The Umbro Senior Girls All Ireland Final will take place on Wednesday 9 April in Buckley Park, Kilkenny (2pm):

Both Schools have been victories winners of the FAI Schools Senior Cup in the past: Firstly, Skerries lifted this prestigious title in 2000 while Castletroy have triumphed in 2005 and 2006:

The Castletroy squad is virtually unchanged from the team that were defeated in last year’s All Ireland Senior Final: The Limerick ladies were hoping to secure a hat trick of consecutive titles but unfortunately Summerhill College, Athlone denied them that opportunity:

Skerries Community College will not be taking this game lightly: Manager, Joe Stafford is under no illusions about the task facing his charges: The girls lost the Senior Cup campaign to no other than old rivals Castletroy College by the narrowest of margins in 2006 with a score line of 2/1:

The current Skerries senior squad includes 5 players who’ve represented the FAI Schools International team over the years namely, Aisling Dyer, Niamh Murphy, Karen McGlynn, Sinead Cullen and Lyndsey Davey:  A number of the girls have also played on the Women’s FAI U17 squads:

Sinead O’Mahony and Caoimhe Halpin have also represented Leinster in recent FAI Schools Interprovincial Competitions:

Castletroy’s Niamh Mulcahy was included in the Republic of Ireland’s U19 squad last year and she will be looking to maintain her match winning performance for the final: Mulcahy scored the decisive goal in the All Ireland Semi Final against a powerful Mercy College:

The Limerick ladies are very experienced and they will be hoping to mirror their 2006 All Ireland success: Edel O’Brien, Manager of Castletroy is looking forward to the encounter which should prove to be an entertaining and skilful game of football:

Castletroy College: Deirdre Cremin, Orlaith Shinners, Aoife Mooney, Linda Healy Rennison, Rachael Hogan, Niamh Richardson, Niamh Mulcahy, Susan Critchley, Catherine Cronin, Sinead Cremin, Hilary Barrett, Judith Mulcahy, Aine O’Brien, Grace Leonard:
