Deputy Editor, UEFA Training Ground
The UEFA Training Ground is a grassroots website launched in May 2007 which aims to inform, entertain and educate young players and coaches about every aspect of football from grassroots training to the top skills performed by the UEFA Champions League stars:
As well as providing detailed video explanations of the core skills, drills and tactics of the game, the website also provides packages highlighting the successful grassroots schemes across Europe:
Last year UEFA launched the Ford Team Challenge, a competition in which players, teams and schools of all ages and abilities could enter and be in with a chance of winning a Ford Minibus for their team and training kit courtesy of adidas:
The idea behind the competition was that, with a minimum of three players, each team had to produce a minute of skills using as many innovative tricks as possible: UEFA received a fantastic response from all over Europe and are delighted to be launching the second edition of the competition: This time around, as well as skills coaches can enter their own training drills too:
UEFA would like to invite you to give some of the talented young footballers in your team the chance to enter the Challenge: All entries must be filmed and either uploaded onto the site, emailed to UEFA at trainingground@uefa:ch or sent to the Association on a DVD, before they are assessed by their panel of judges:
Each entry must consist of players from either a school, university or a registered team in their country’s association:
