FARE Week October 2009 (Ireland Intercultural Football Week)

As you may be aware the Football Association of Ireland, in conjunction with its community partners, will be supporting the Football Against Racism in Europe Week, which runs over a fortnight from the 15 until the 27 of October: The FARE Week is organised by the Football Against Racism in Europe Network which is a community partner of UEFA:
What’s available as part of the Week?
The FAI’s Intercultural Football Programme has made promotional material available to clubs, leagues and organisations to run activities in support of FARE Week: The materials are listed below: Please note that this stock is limited and materials will be distributed on a first come, first served basis:
- Show Racism the Red Card Wrist Bands
- 24 United Against Racism Bibs
What might you do as part of the Week?
Using the promotional material above to make a stand against racism and promoting interaction between people from all communities, backgrounds and cultures has benefit for all individuals within the football family and society as a whole:
You will need to provide details of your project dates/venues/times/groups involved):There is a number of different activities that you might consider running during FARE Week, including:
Grassroots Leagues and Clubs
- Make your regular league match an anti/racism game and work together with local immigrant and anti/racism organisations to prepare the game (see contacts list below):
Schools, Colleges/Universities, Youth Projects & Organisations
- Start a racism and football project:
- Young people design their own banner, t/shirt, or art work celebrating diversity and or saying no to racism
- Organise friendly matches with students/staff & other schools, colleges or universities; designate these as anti racism matches
