De La Salle Wicklow win Junior Cup

UMBRO FAI Schools Junior Boys All Ireland FINAL

De La Salle, Wicklow 0/0 Scoil Mhuire Secondary School, Buncrana (AET) DLS win 8/7 on pens

De La Salle of Wicklow collected the UMBRO FAI Schools Junior Boys Cup that their performance against Scoil Mhuire, Buncrana merited in Wednesday's Final at Oriel Park but only after coming through a gripping sudden/death penalty shoot/out:

The champions enjoyed the bulk of chances but the more they squandered, the more Scoil Mhuire from Buncrana grew in confidence:

Scoil Mhuire goalkeeper Harry Doherty saved Karl Earls' close/range header on the half hour before keeping John Crowe's shot out with his legs three minutes later:

De La Salle continued to threaten in the second half but it was the Ryan Varma who almost stole it for Scoil Mhuire in extra/time yet he couldn't steer Daniel Doherty's wicked cross to the net from six yards:

The Donegal School had another chance to clinch the trophy during sudden death of the penalty shoot/out only for goalkeeper Andy Murphy to block Doherty's attempt and Cian Verney converted the decisive spot/kick for De La Salle:
