Meath’s Gormanstown College will play host to the Post Primary Schools Leinster Futsal Finals on Tuesday next, November 22 for the second year running:
288 players representing 24 qualifying schools from 12 counties will participate in this year’s event:
The Post Primary Schools futsal competition is in its third year nationally after a successful pilot programme in 2009: The competition caters for first year students with both boys and girls categories catered for:
Scoil Cois Life and Loreto College, Swords will represent Dublin for the first time ever: These schools qualified in tough circumstances in their regional qualifiers: A number of Dublin schools missed out marginally on qualification as the contest was so close to call: This test is sure to keep their competitive edge as they compete next week:
Last year’s Leinster winners were KILDARE’s Confey Community School in Leixlip and Eureka Secondary School, Kells, MEATH are out of contention as they failed to qualify for this provincial stages: Questions will be asked of their competitors who ousted them at County level:::: Will they be in the running for provincial medals?
Kildare hopefuls this time around will be Piper’s Hill College in the boys section while the girls section will be represented by St: Paul’s Secondary School, Monasterevin for a second consecutive year:
Meath’s St: Peter’s College based in Dunboyne will have dual representation as both boys and girls sections qualified: This is similar to Wicklow qualifiers Dublin Oak Academy in Kilcroney: Much to play for as both categories tries to compete for Provincial honours:
Portlaoise will have two schools participating namely St: Mary’s CBS for the boys and the successful Scoil Chriost Rí who will be enjoying their advancement from County status: The school is new to this level of competition so expectations will be somewhat balanced as they watch with anticipation on their counterparts advancement:
Westmeath’s Wilson Hospital School, Multyfarnham qualified two years ago and will be quietly confident of doing a good job at the next level up: Mentor Gavin Kieran’s will be on hand to support his young hopefully: Castlepollard Community College will see the girls section compete at this level for the first time in the Schools history: A wonderful achievement for the school competing for the first time ever at futsal
Louth’s Dundalk Grammar School and St: Vincent’s Secondary School, Dundalk make the cut while Kilkenny’s St: Kieran’s College and Grennan College, Thomastown will make a welcome return to the Provincial stage:
Richelle O’Neill will mentor Colaiste Choilm, Tullamore in the boys section in Offaly while newcomers Killina Presentation Secondary School will relish the challenge put in front of them:
Gorey Community School and St: Mary’s Secondary School, New Ross will fly the flag for Wexford this year:
Hacketstown’s Colaiste Eoin and Bagenalstown’s Presentation De La Salle will do the honours for Carlow as they go in search of Provincial glory:
The day will be action packed as all schools bid for the honour of being crowned First Year Futsal Champions for 2011:
The competition is wide open with 22 schools in contention for some of the silverware on offer on Tuesday next: All schools are requested to be in attendance for registration at 10:30am with games kicking off at 11am sharp:
