These events will cater for boys and girls in Post Primary education with over 5,000 participants expected to take part this year: The competition will cater to First Year students:
The competition offers students the opportunity to participate in a fun filled event with the emphasis on improvisation, creativity, technique as well as ball control and passing in confined spaces:
Ulster
The Donegal Post Primary Schools Futsal FINALS took place in Finn Valley Centre on Wednesday last (November 14)
Over 120 First Year students (boys and girls) took part in the competition representing Colaiste Cholmcille, Ballyshannon, Errigal College, Letterkenny, Finn Valley College, St: Columba’s College, Stranorlar, and The Royal and Prior Comprehensive School, Raphoe:
It was the Stranorlar Schools that took the honours on the day:
In the boy’s competition St: Columba’s finished on top, narrowly defeating Colaiste Cholmcille 2/1 in their final match:
The impressive Finn Valley College girls cruised to victory defeating all the other teams in the girls section:
The two teams will now go on to represent Donegal in the Ulster Finals in Carrickmacross on November 29

Connacht
The Mayo Post Primary Schools Futsal FINALS took place in Davitt College, Castlebar: Four Schools taking part in the Girls section namely; Ballinrobe, Davitt College, Castlebar, Sacred Heart School, Westport and Lacken Cross:
The event was played in a round robin format with the top two in the group qualifying for the Final:
After the high quality qualifying group games had finished it left for an excellent Final in place with Davitt College, Castlebar against Sacred Heart School, Westport: Following a high quality game of Futsal, Sacred Heart School, Westport came out on top with a 1 – 0 victory over an unlucky Davitt College team:
In the Boys section 8 Schools took part namely, Rice College Westport, Sancta Maria Louisburgh, St: Louis Kiltimagh, Ballinrobe, Davitt College, Castlebar, St: Muredach’s, Ballina, Lacken Cross and Colaiste Acla Achill:
The event was split into two groups of four with the top two in each group qualifying for the Semi Finals: After some excellent qualifying group games had finished, it manifested into two brillant semi finals with Ballinrobe versus St: Muredach’s, Ballina AND St: Louis, Kiltimagh versus Rice College, Westport:
Ballinrobe and St: Louis, Kiltimagh were the eventual winners of the Semi Finals after two very entertaining games:
So Ballinrobe were now to play St Louis Kiltimagh in the Final: There was nothing between the teams as the game finished two each after extra time, meaning that dreaded penalties was needed: Ballinrobe came out eventual winners after the titanic struggle:
Sacred Heart School, Westport (GIRLS) and Ballinrobe (BOYS) will now go on to represent Mayo in the Connacht Finals on November 19 in IT Sligo
