Captain Stewart hero for CBS

CBS Sexton Street, Limerick 1-1 Athlone Community College (AET)

CBS won 4-2 on pens

Shane Walsh (110)                                              Eoin McCormack (Pen 93)

LIMERICK’S CBS Sexton Street squeezed into the Umbro FAI Schools Dr: Tony O’Neill All/Ireland Cup Final in the most dramatic of circumstances in Roscrea yesterday (March 7, 2013)

Goalkeeper Jamie Stewart was the hero on the day saving two penalties and slotting home the decisive one in a dramatic penalty/shootout victory over Leinster champions Athlone Community College:

Despite, Stewart’s efforts, Athlone themselves left Killavilla United FC devastated after coming within two seconds of claiming the win after extra/time:

After their own goalkeeper Michael McMahon – who was the shootout hero in the recent Leinster Final win – saved a first/half penalty in normal time from Shane Walsh, Athlone thought Eoin McCormack successful spot kick early in extra time would be crucial:

However, with the very last kick of the game Walsh made up for his earlier miss when he slotted home from close range to equalize and forced the penalty/shootout:

Ronan Daly and Ian Rosney were the unfortunate Athlone players to be denied by Stewart from the spot and the goalkeeper capped an incredible day for the back-to-back winners in 2007 and 2008 by scoring the winner:

Exhilaration for CBS, heartache for Athlone
