The FAI's fourth annual FAI - Edmund Rice Primary Schools Intercultural Shield took place in Williamstown Sports Complex Waterford City on April 3:
This annual tournament is organised by the FAI, Edmund Rice ISU, Waterford Schoolboy League and it's primary aim is to promote Intercultural inclusion in football amongst primary schools children:
This year saw their largest ever entry with 12 teams taking part from schools right across the South East:
Each school must include at least three players from ethnic minority backgrounds and this year most of the schools had at least five participants from ethnic minority's which was excellent:
After some great action in the morning the semi finalists were Mount Sion who played Scoil Lorcain and New Ross CBS who played Kilkenny CBS:
Mount Sion and New Ross emerged as winners and a great final saw Mount Sion come out on top and take hope the shield for a second time:
The FAI would like to thank all schools that participated: Ferrybank BNS, Mount Sion, New Ross, Carrick, Kilkenny Educate Together, St: Declan's, Scoil Lorcain, St: Paul's for taking part and Bro Kevin Mascharenas from the Edmund Rice ISU and Pat Kelly WSFL who helped to organise the tournament and the Order of Malta for providing medical support:
