ST: BRENDAN'S COLLEGE, KILLARNEY put five past Calasanctius College, Oranmore to book their place in the UMBRO FAI Schools Minor Boys All Ireland Cup Semi Final in Eammon Deacy Park, Galway yesterday (Wednesday, April 30):

The score line didn't reflect the performance of the Galway lad's on the day but it just wasn't to be following a sparkling performance from the Killarney crew

The opening ten minutes brought the first goal of the game against the run of play, some might say, but a beautifully worked goal involving Killarney's Marcos Martinez who played a great through ball to Michael Potts who finished confidently from close range:

Not a great start to the game for the Connacht champions who looked good in the opening minutes:

Things went from bad to worse when St: Brendan's College made it 2/0 on 11 minutes with Michael Potts turning provider this time after a neat move down the left to set up Christopher O'Donoghue who finished nicely:

Oranmore then took a hold of the game and almost scored if it wasn't for a wonderful last ditch tackle by David Clifford who denied Matthew Barrett from getting a shot off: The resulting corner almost converted by Matthew Barrett who this time was denied by Jack Griffin who cleared well off the line:

A Galway comeback was boosted by an early goal in the second half when the lively Matthew Barrett set up Aaron Connolly who finished well at the far post from a right sided cross:

Aaron Connolly then hit the side netting with a free kick 25 yards out much to the delight of the travelling Kerry support who thought it was a goal:

On 47 minutes St: Brandan's scored again dashing any hopes of a Galway revival with a badly timed jump by Daniel O'Neill saw the ball bounce over him and land to the fortunate Christopher O'Donoghue who tapped in his second of the day to make it 3/1:

Seconds later, Oranmore's Matthew Barrett had a long range effort glide narrowly over the crossbar

The Kingdom were celebrating again, six minutes later when Christopher O'Donoghue completed his hat/trick, however the goal was disallowed for offside:

Oranmore's danger man Aaron Connolly was in the mix again after striking a free kick from 25 yards out only to hit the woodwork:

The tricky Marcos Martinez in the centre of the Killarney midfield deservedly got his name on the score sheet after an impressive move saw him slot home just inside the box on 62 minutes:

The Galway lads had only just tipped off again and lost possession easily which then led to Lorcan McMonagle deceiving the keeper with a cheeky 35 yard effort which flew into the top corner to ensure a commanding foothold on proceedings:

St: Brendan's College, Killarney will now meet Templeogue College, Dublin in this year's Cup Final:
