Senior Girls All Ireland Semi Final
Castletroy advance to All Ireland Schools Final
Mercy College, Roscommon 0
Castletroy College, Limerick 1
It was bitter disappointment for Mercy College as a moment of magic from midfielder Niamh Richardson ensured Castletroy a place in the Final of the Umbro Senior Ladies Cup Final.
Mercy College youngster Anna McCormack was included in the starting side to face giants Castletroy in this competitive fixture.
The Limerick ladies have a very impressive record in this competition at this level and were put under severe pressure early on from the Roscommon forward line of McHugh and Staunton. Tully providing some quality passes to her two strike partners up front.
The game was intense in the first half with some excellent saves from Cronin and good support from her defence to ensure the game remained scoreless at half time.
Midway through the second half Richardson made a telling run to stretch the Roscommon defence. She made no mistake with her strike on goal and finished neatly to the top corner giving Castletroy the advantage. Mercy responded with some fine through balls from Aisling McHugh and Anna McCormack to set up Tully but unfortunately they were unable to find the equaliser.
