Cavan Post Primary Schools First Year Futsal Finals

The County Cavan Post Primary Schools First Year Futsal Blitz for boys and girls took place on Thursday, 17 December 2009 in Breifne College Cavan:

There were 6 teams participating on the day, with 3 boy’s teams and 3 girl’s teams:

The boy’s competition consisted of 1 group of 3 teams; the Royal School Cavan, Breifne College Cavan and Bawnboy:

Breifne College came out on top in a very exciting round of games with Bawnboy finishing as runners up:

The final game in the group saw Breifne defeat Bawnboy 3/1 in a thrilling decider after going a goal down in the first half:

The girl’s competition consisted of 1 group of 3 teams; the Royal School Cavan, Breifne College Cavan and Bailieborough:

The quality on display in the girl’s section was of a very high level with Bailieborough emerging successful having defeated both Breifne College and the Royal College in very entertaining games:

So congratulations to Breifne College Boys and Bailieborough Girls on winning their respective competitions and best of luck to both Schools in the Ulster Finals which will take place on the 20 January 2010 in the Phoenix Leisure Centre, Carrickmacross:

The event proved to be a huge success, with a high level of skill on show and all games were played in a very sporting manner:
