REGISTRATIONS are now open for ETB/FAI (Formerly FAS) Soccer Courses throughout the country:
The courses are a unique blend of full/time football training and further education:
There are seven courses currently in operation, three in Dublin, two in Cork, 1 in Limerick and Castlebar:
Six of the courses are facilitating the FETAC level 5 in Sport, Recreation and Exercise with one course in Cork undertaking the FETAC Level 4 Sport Recreation and Exercise Certificate:
The FETAC Level 5 Programme is equivalent to the Leaving Certificate level with progression to a Third Level course possible through the CAO points system:
The Education Modules delivered on the programme concentrate on Sport and Exercise with the ITEC Diploma in gym instruction also available to trainees on the course:
Success in the ITEC Diploma would enable trainees to gain employment as fully qualified Gym Instructors:
The football training offered on the course is both progressive and intense with an emphasis on technical ability, fitness and strength and trainees are provided with fitness tests and individual fitness and conditioning programmes: Many of the trainees find a pathway to play in the SSE Airtricity League which has over 100 former trainees playing in the competition with various clubs:
The Football programme on the course also includes entry into a national cup competition, The Bobby Smith Cup for which the various courses compete with each other to win:
Registrations will remain open until the end of August with all courses commencing from September:
Trainees may be entitled to a training allowance paid weekly:
