UMBRO FAI Schools Junior Girls All Ireland Cup FINAL Preview (U17)

Ulster kingpins Moville Community College are one game away from retaining the UMBRO FAI Schools Junior Girls Cup and more importantly the elusive three in/a/row: The only school to stand in their way are Leinster legends, Loreto Secondary School, Kilkenny:

Moville had a convincing 5/1 victory over Athenry’s Presentation College in IT Sligo last month: Sally Ann McFadden’s crew will be hoping their goal scoring prowess is continued as they take the favourites tag in the final clash:

Nicole McDermott will replace Aine McLaughlin in the starting line up for the Cup Final: Aine McLaughlin will miss out on the action as she picked up an ankle injury in their All Ireland Senior Cup semi final victory over Ursuline College of Sligo last week in Monaghan: This will be a blow for the squad but they have strength in numbers and McDermott will be relishing the challenge set out for her:

This will be Moville first of two, All Ireland Final appearances for the Inishowen School as they face Christ King Girls’ Secondary School, Cork in a re/match of last year’s Senior Cup Final on Wednesday week:

On the other side of the draw, he Cats had an impressive win when they defeated last year’s beaten finalists Christ King Girls’ of Cork in their semi final decider in Cahir earlier in the month: Two first half goals courtesy of U17 International star Jenny Clifford and Laura Murphy sent Barry O’Neill’s side through to their first All Ireland soccer final in the history of the School: Their provincial final contest saw the Loreto girls net a hat/trick past St: Kilian’s DSD to lift the prestigious Leinster crown and the School is keen to add more silverware this season:

There has been huge progress made with the team in the last three years to bring the level of football up a notch:  At the helm in the Loreto camp is Donegal native Paul McGinley who now teaches in Kilkenny: McGinley will assist Barry O’Neill in leading the girls to potentially their first All Ireland soccer title with the girls having tasted All Ireland success in Camogie in recent weeks:

U15 Schools International players Olivia Nolan (Loreto SS) will line out against Roma McLaughlin (Moville CC) in Oriel Park on Wednesday afternoon: Both players have been selected for Richelle O’Neill Republic of Ireland Schools squad to participate in the Bob Docherty Tournament in April:

Jenny Clifford (Loreto SS) and Roma McLaughlin (Moville CC) will travel from Cork on Wednesday morning for the Cup tie: The two youngsters are involved in Dave Connell’s WU17 training camp in Fota Island this week
