This is an ideal opportunity for young soccer players to gain an education while holding a scholarship in one of third level footballs stand out colleges: Athlone Town FC are soccer scholarship partners with the Institute: AIT and Athlone Town FC have made significant progress in the past three months on developing their relationship and this initiative is the first of hopefully many initiatives that will strengthen soccer in the midland region and provide a pathway for developing players to play soccer at the highest level in Ireland and beyond while also earning an academic qualification: We will be officially announcing the 2012/2013 Scholarships very soon and Athlone Town FC are partners with the Institute for those scholarships offered to players on the books of the club: Prospective scholarship students need not be attached to Athlone Town FC as scholarships will be available for players from any club:
AIT will soon be opening an €11m sports facility to serve its students and the local population: The Facility includes a sports arena that can accommodate from 2,000 to 6,000 spectators depending on the event type: Ancillary features in the facility include an Elite Squad Gym, High Performance Testing Laboratory, Aerobics studios, Fitness Suite, Sports Medical Centre, Physical Therapy Suites and Recovery Suites
