St Kieran’s College, Kilkenny 2-1 Carndonagh Community School
ST KIERAN’S College of Kilkenny claimed their first FAI Schools Junior title yesterday after they came from behind to defeat Carndonagh Community School in the Final at Oriel Park, Dundalk.
John Power scored twice for the victors after the Donegal school took the lead against the run of play through Ronan Doherty’s free-kick which deceived goalkeeper Craig Cummins.
Striker Power, the younger brother of Kilkenny hurler Richie, drew the Cats level in stoppage time of the first half when he poked the ball into the bottom corner and scored the winner nine minutes from the end after holding off two defenders and scoring from 10 yards.
