Primary Schools Futsal in Fingal

The first qualifying round of the Primary Schools Futsal event took place in Fingal on Friday 28 November with a total of ten mixed teams participating:

Third and fourth class students from Scoil Mhuire, Blakestown, St: Ciaran’s Hartstown, St: Patrick’s Corduff and St: Philips Mountview had a number of teams competing to progress to the next stage:

The FAI held this event in association with Fingal County Council, Sporting Fingal and Blanchardstown Drugs Task Force:

Martin Doyle, Community Development Officer in the Dublin 15 area worked extensively with Blanchardstown Drugs Task Force to incorporate the Drugs Task Force Awareness Week into the competition:

A major highlight for the kids participating was a presentation by Sporting Fingal star Conan Byrne: He spoke about the impact of a healthy diet, dangers of alcohol and what it takes to be a professional footballer:

The final was a very exciting affair with St: Patrick’s of Corduff beating St: Ciaran’s of Hartstown 3/2: Both teams progress to the Fingal area finals in January:

Thanks to Martin Doyle, Denis Hyland and Paul O’Reilly for coordinating this event:
