Joy for Edenderry boys and Durrow girls
St Mary’s Youth Centre in Tullamore was the venue for this year’s Offaly Primary Futsal Finals and everyone present was entertained by a very high standard of play by both boys and girls:
The boy’s competition was split into 2 groups of 3 teams with goal difference coming into play to separate sides:
St Patrick’s Boys who were very impressive during their group stage went down 1 – 0 to Geashill in the first of the semi finals and it took the pressure of scoring three penalty’s in a shoot out for Edenderry to overcome St Colmans Boys :
The Final was a tense affair with Edenderry pulling away at the end to take the title for the second consecutive year beating Geashill 4 – 0:
The Girls Final was equally impressive with Durrow Girls coming out 2 – 0 winners over a well organised St Colman’s side: Throughout the competition both teams played exciting football and are a credit to their schools:
Emma Martin, Women’s Development Officer for South Leinster was on hand to present the winning Captain with a framed winning certificate:
A big thank you has to go to all the teachers and parents who were present on the day: Without them this competition would not be possible as well as the fantastic atmosphere which was created within St Mary’s Youth Centre:
