In a windswept Pearse Park, Rosary College enjoyed home advantage as they kicked off in the preliminary round of the Senior B Leinster Cup against St: Kevin’s of Clondalkin on Monday last (October 4)

St: Kevin’s had the wind at their backs as they used it to full advantage applying enormous pressure on the Crumlin defence:

The deadlock was broke with twenty minutes registered on the clock as Clondalkin’s Dylan Byrne nicked in at the far post to slot home for St: Kevin’s:

St: Kevin’s doubled their advantage courtesy of John Harcourt on forty minutes:

Rosary played some clever football and with the interval fast approaching, the Crumlin boys managed to evade the offside trap and their striker finished well past the advancing goalkeeper:

Clondalkin’s Marco Chindea restored their two goal cushion with a thunderous shot to the top corner leaving it 3/1 with only seconds remaining in the first half:

Rosary College started the second period with great determination and some good flowing football :Their endeavour were rewarded on 56 minutes after a rare mistake from the Clondalkin defence allowed the Rosary striker to slot past the keeper:

However this was to end the ‘comeback’ as St: Kevin’s battled against the strong wind and Harcourt popped up again to get his second, and St: Kevin’s fourth of the match on the hour mark:

The match was put beyond doubt on 72 minutes when Chindea notched his second of the afternoon: His tap in from close range was assisted by Matthews and Ward as they linked well in midfield, Ward playing an excellent ball into Hunt in the box and he continued the stylish build up with a well executed pass to the impressive Chindea:

St: Kevin’s now advance to the second round with their confidence building after an impressive performance against a quality side:
