Tullow Community School 7/3 Carlow CBS

Carlow/Kilkenny U14 Boys Division One FINAL

Tullow Community School won their first U14 title in four years beating defending Champions CBS Carlow in the Final which was much closer than the score line suggests:

Tullow had two strikers in fine form and it was there clinical finishing in front of goal that led them to getting a hat trick each and the difference between the sides:

Tullow took the lead through Conor Owens after just five minutes when he slotted home after a great individual solo run (1/0)

Playing with a very strong wind Carlow CBS drew level within ten minutes courtesy of a spot kick: CBS momentum was building and their endeavours with rewarded when they were awarded a penalty which was brilliantly saved by the Tullow net/minder but Conail Dunne was on hand to slot the rebound into the back of the net

Tullow were then behind minutes later when CBS Carlow used the wind to evade the keeper and scored straight from a corner

Tullow equalised when Liam Whelan slotted home a Conor Owens cross to leave it two all with only twenty minutes on the clock

Tullow took the lead just before the interval with the goal of the game after brilliant link play from Owens and Whelan for Owens to pull back the ball on the end line and the Carlow defender smashed the ball into his own net to leave it 3/2 to Tullow at the break:

The second period saw Tullow in a comfortable position, ably assisted by the strong wind: The game was wrapped up as Owens went on to score two quick goals in the second half to complete his hat trick and Whelan followed the pattern by claiming his hat/trick for the Tullow lads to lift the title:
