Colaiste Choilm, Tullamore win Offaly Post Primary Schools Futsal Final

COLÁISTE CHOILM WIN OFFALY POST PRIMARY SCHOOLS FUTSAL

November 2, 2016

The hosts Coláiste Choilm 1 advance to the First Year Boys Post Primary Schools Leinster Futsal Finals after what was a pulsating final in Tullamore on Wednesday last (October 26).

Coláiste Choilm Tullamore went into the final as favourites after they defeated St. Brendan’s Community School, Birr 2-0 in the group stage.

But the lads from Birr didn't let that affect them as they raced into an early lead after a fine goal by Antoni Cwiklik.

Dara McDaid who was tremendous throughout the day then equalised for Coláiste Choilm with a fantastic individual effort.  St. Brendan’s goalkeeper Lee Maloney pulled off some fantastic saves to send the game to extra time.

Ben Pardy gave St. Brendan’s the lead for a second time but with just three minutes remaining Jayden Lovett once again showed his skill and goal scoring ability to level the game. With just forty seconds left on the clock Coláiste Choilm took the lead for the first time as player of the day Lovett scored what proved to be the winner.

A big thank you to Coláiste Choilm for hosting the event in their superb facility and also to the TY students who done a fantastic job throughout the day co-ordinating the event with organiser Maz Sweeney.

Coláiste Choilm (Boys) & St. Brendan’s Community School (Girls) will now advance to the provincial decider in Gormanston College, Meath on Wednesday, November 23.
