The winners from Meath, Louth, Longford and Westmeath descended on the Aura Leisure Centre in Trim, Co: Meath for the North Leinster Post Primary Schools Finals on Wednesday, December 9:

It proved to be an exciting days action and St: Peter’s College (Dunboyne, Co: Meath) and Moyne Community School (Longford) came out as winners in the Boys and Girls competitions respectively:

The Girls group was contested by eventual winners Moyne C:S:, O’Fiadh College (Dundalk, Co: Louth), St: Peter’s College (Dunboyne, Co: Meath) and Wilson’s Hospital (Multyfarnhm, Co: Westmeath):

Moyne and St: Peter’s College both got off to fast starts by winning their first two games and setting/up a group deciding final match: This meant that the penultimate match between O’Fiadh College and Wilson’s Hospital proved to be a 3rd/4th place playoff and it was the Dundalk outfit who came out on top by with a 4/1 scoreline:

In the final game St: Peter’s College took an early lead and looked in a strong position as they had the better of the play in the first half but Moyne C:S: managed to equalize before half/time and the teams were deadlocked at the break:

The second half was evenly balanced and both teams had chances before Moyne C:S: eventually took control and scored two quick fire goals which proved enough to stave off the determined St: Peter’s College team and secure the Longford girls a place in the Leinster Finals with a 3/1 victory:

The Boys section proved equally as close and was contested by St: Peter’s College, O’Fiadh College, Wilson’s Hospital and also Athboy C:S: from Co: Meath:

Both Athboy and St: Peter’s College won their first two games to ensure a final game showdown and Wilson’s Hospital and O’Fiadh College provided a repeat of the girls 3rd/4th place playoff but this time the Westmeath outfit came out on top by 2/1:

So that left the final game of the day being a decider for a place in the Leinster Finals and Athboy C:S: looked favourities to secure that spot after an impressive start and a 1/0 half/time lead:

The second/half started with Athboy in the ascendance once again and only for some fine goalkeeping the game could have been dead and buried but to their credit St: Peter’s College battled back and scored an equalizer with five minutes remaining:

The decisive goal came two minutes from time and it was scored by the Dunboyne team who made up for the disappointment of just missing out on the girls section by winning the boys section and booking their place in the Futsal Arena in Ballymun on January 18 for the Leinster Finals:
