Aim:
The course is designed to assist parents and coaches, to introduce children (aged 6-9 years) to fun soccer games and FUNdamental movement skills in a well-structured, stimulating and safe environment.
Objectives:
To provide coaches with the ability to:
- Plan, organise and implement a coaching session.
- Identify the stages in the development of young players at the FUNdamental phase aged between 6-9 years.
- Coach children between the age of 6-9 years in a fun, safe and friendly environment.
Entry Requirements:
Course candidates will be Parents, Teachers and Coaches with or without coaching certificates. Candidates must be 16 years or over. Candidates will be asked to abide by the Code of Ethics/Conduct in soccer and the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for children’s sport in Ireland.
Kick Start 1 is the first part of a two-part Introduction to Coaching programme within the FAI’s Coach Education Scheme.
Duration/Format:
8 contact hours – All courses are subject to a minimum of 20 participants enrolling with the course co-ordinator. If the required number of participants is not achieved prior to the course start date then the course may be cancelled / deferred. There are practical aspects of the course, therefore please bring appropriate attire.
Assessment:
No formal assessment required. Full attendance is compulsory to gain certification.
Certification:
Kick Start 1 coaches will receive an ‘FAI Kick Start 1’ certificate of attendance as part of the National Coaching Development Programme.
